Did you feel sorry for Rosemary in the end?
I sure did. Earlier in the flick I was hating Rosemary but I felt sorry for her in the end due to her miserable obviously dead-end life.

sharewheras i was indifferent to her in the beginning until i began hating her to the point that i wished she were dead.
shareI can easily envision Howard abandoning Rosemary, probably the very same day that they went off together.
They'd stop at a gas station or a convenience store, Howard would ask Rosemary to go in and get him something, and then drive away, leaving her there.
Rather like the final scene in FIVE EASY PIECES.
No; she's finally going to be happy and he'll be happy too, even when they fight.
shareIt's not spelled out but implied that Rosemary may have made a mistake. Howard blows his stack twice during the film, without Rosemary there to see it, if memory serves.

There's no way Howard would leave Rosemary stranded somewhere, not unless he planned to keep driving and never return to their town. Once people found out what he'd done to a respected teacher like her, they'd have broken out the tar and feathers.
"May I bone your kipper, Mademoiselle?"
Good point. Howard wouldn't have the nerve to ditch Rosemary like that. If that were the case, I don't think he would've even stuck around Rosemary as long as he did. I think he's fond and respectful enough of her that he wouldn't want to do that anyway (although he might have the urge to now and then).
shareCould you cover up the last part with a spoiler tag? It's annoying when you take the precaution to watch a movie first (to avoid spoilers), then go to read about it find spoilers for other movies you haven't watched.
