Shirtless Bill Holden!!!

I love this film because the story is very moving and the message is very powerful- about individuals and how they cope with loneliness as well as a look back into another time in American suburbia. But when I saw William Holden without his shirt- I was his! At least his fan lol He's so hot

I agree, although they should have left his chest as it was. He had to shave it to avoid "unwholesome thoughts" by the audience. I guess it was a big deal in 1955...

... I admire a person that's willing to do whatever is necessary.

I agree too to bad he shaved it, it would of looked great, nice to see hair on a man chest

I dislike chest hair. The only place I want a man to have hair is on his head. (Don't care for bald guys either.)

Do you really like a man with a shaved bush? My ex husband did that once (he thought it might make him look bigger down there) and all I saw was a big FUPA and the same old size whatevers.

He kept his chest hair for Sunset Blvd. I must say, I think it looks so much better. It looks odd for a mature man with hairy forearms, a solid build, and a full head of hair to have no chest hair

I've recently become a big fan of his and have yet to see this movie, but if you liked him shirtless in this, you'll surely love the scene where he gets out of the pool in Sunset Blvd. I'd take him over any of the so-called hunks of today.

Hollywood today is hunkless and effeminate.

Holden is handsome and very masculine in PICNIC. His build is terrific, but I still prefer him hairier.

i love that the film kept on finding new ways to show him shirtless.

what sort of "unwholesome thoughts" are produced by a hairy chest that arent produced by a hairless one? my thoughts about bill are the same whether he's got hair or not...but i guess those were the 50s.

The scene of a bare-chested William Holden burning trash in Mrs. Potts' back yard is one of the iconic "beefcake" scenes in the American cinema.
