How would they find each other in Tulsa

all she knows is that he said he could work in a hotel in Tulsa. How in the world would she be able to find him? IF indeed she went to look for him (she could have just been going somewhere else to start fresh in a new life)

He said he could get a bellhopping job at the Hotel Mayo so she knew exactly where to go. If for some reason he couldn't get work there he would still check at the desk every few days to see if she left a message. In those pre-cellphone days it was common for people to use hotels as message centers and even like post offices - she could leave a letter for him if they missed each other.

Lol, I thought that too. The other poster was correct. I recall Hal said the name of the hotel. I hope he does check for her every day. I still think it was good for Madge to leave her Mom's house and venture out in the world. Like the neighbor lady said, let her learn on her own. She can just as easily work at a Five and Dime in Tulsa. A bigger city could open up new possibilities too. Still I'd rather Madge have Hal there to watch out for her. She seems a little vulnerable and quiet.

He told her the name of the hotel in Tulsa. Likely he would have shown up there, dirty and drunk, and would have been thrown out. By the time Madge found out where he was, a few days later, she would have quietly entered his room hoping to surprise him, but instead she'd walk in on him in the act having sex with some cheap whore and he'd be saying to the new piece "I love you so much. I've never loved any one like this...blah blah" like he said to Madge. She'd be upset and run back to Kansas and in a couple of weeks realize she got impregnated by him at the picnic. Her reputation destroyed, she'd never find a decent man back in Kansas, and settle for unwed motherhood and turning tricks with the paper boy and his buddies. And still wearing her crown, unless the town takes it back from her. That's the True Hollywood Story.
