Is that correct?!?! This movie is that old? When did they first come out with color cartoons? I seriously thought 'Lady and the Tramp' came out in the 80's lol! WOW!

Maybe because you saw the 1980 or the 1986 theatrical re-release.

Yes, Lady and the Tramp was released on June 1955.

Yep, it must of been in 1986 when I was 3 yrs old...I am still shocked that it came out in 1955...It is such a nicely done cartoon! I had no idea color cartoons have been around since 1937! Thanks for the info:)

The first color cartoon was "flowers and trees", in 1932. Snow White could've been the first full length feature color cartoon, but definitely not the first color cartoon.

That was just a theatrical rerealese. It has destinctive 50's animation style.

Yes, this movie is old!

Amazingly, though, I think it withstands the test of time. I'm a 28 year old male and recently watched it for the first time since childhood. It's still great. In fact, it's easily in my top 5 favorite animated films of all time.
