The 'Dog and Pony Fights'

What exactly did this line mean? it is said about Peg just before she sings...

reply

IIRC, the line was about the "Dog and Pony Follies" - Peg is supposed to be a "showgirl" who's been banged up.. or had done her time on the boards.

A dried-up chorus girl in effect.

Thanks. That other dogs accent, confused me...

I think it might also be a clever reference to "dog and pony show," a corporate phrase used to convey something that is just done to appease the bosses because it is expected, or possibly something a company might do only to impress/appease the public.
