did anyone notice that during the film in some shots the size of the monster changes for exemple when sinks the cargoship or its tentacles wrapping the clock tower in S.F. embarcadero the octopus looks larger than when it comes ashore in that beach in Oregon and kills the sheriff. If you look closely the size of the monster about surroundings in this last shot looks less large than the previous ones. IMO the size should be 500ft in lenght and 50/70ft in diameter, more or less.

Scaling problems for animated monsters is pretty common in old movies like this. It's one of the fun things to look for when you watch them.

It looked about the same size on the beach to me. I'll have to re-watch.
