can anyone please tell me where this film was shot?

In Oregon at a National Park but I don't remember the name of it.

Central Oregon, Smith Rock State Park, near Bend, OR... also the Deschutes National Forest (I can see Mt. Bacheleor, and the Three Sisters in a couple of different scenes). Awesome area, I am a park ranger in the area... great shots in HD.

That's correct. My mother, my grandfather and pretty much the whole town of Bend Oregon were extras in this film. And Kirk Douglas made a point to greet and chat with everyone for a while. Not just a quick "Hello" but a real down to earth nice long chat. And my mom said Walter Mathau and Lon Chaney Jr. kept senaking away to have a drink

Surprised Kirk Douglas had the time. In his autobiography he claims he was banging Elsa Martinelli through out the filming.
