I just watched this movie in color (taped this morning on FMC), but thought I had seen it in B&W at one time. Could it have been on TV when I was a kid? I know I read the Readers' Digest condensed book in the late fifties.

It was always in colour; there is a credit card for "Color by De Luxe".

I suspect that perhaps you originally saw it on a black and white TV.
