Ahem. The 1955 Color movie is "Good Morning, Miss Dove" and involves a Elementary school teacher of Geography. The 1941 Black-and-White movie is "Cheers for Miss Bishop" and tells the tale of "Midwestern University," where Miss Bishop teaches Freshman English. "Miss Dove" has only one man in her life, early on, then becomes a guide for generations of children. "Miss Bishop" has at least two or three men in her life, and just misses out on marriage by the skin of her teeth. "Miss Dove" greets her continuing life with a knowing smile, plotting what to do with the next school year's children. "Miss Bishop" retires and fades into death, with her best friend in attendance. I just saw "Miss Bishop" via time-shifted TCM broadcast, and found it more like "Goodbye Mr. Chips" than "Miss Dove," which I saw on YouTube.
