How old is Abra supposed to be?

I know in the book she's around Aron and Cal's ages but what about here?

I think she was around the same age.

In the book, around 17-18.

In the movie, it seems like she could be in her 20s.

I wake up from dreams and go "Wow, put this down on paper."

Well, obviously, in real life she was 6 years the senior of James Dean, and about 12 years older than Richard Davalos!

As much as I can praise Ms Harris for her fine performance, I think that even better casting would have been Eva Marie Saint as Abra--despite the fact that she's actually a year older than Harris! But she aged better than Harris, who looks her actual age in EOE.

Some girls look older than they are. I think Abra was the same. I'm certainly surprised that Davalos was only 18. Wth?

She was the weak link in this cast, IMO. Not necessarily Julie Harris' fault but she looked far too old to be either guy's love interest.
