General consensus is that he was a weirdo though, right? I mean Kazan even hit him once because of how odd he was.
But a lot of this film is dubbed. A LOT.

I found that very odd myself. I recognized Carey immediately, but for a few moments, I doubted myself because it sure didn't sound like him.

Yes, it was annoying to me, but I'm sure most 1955 viewers never noticed because they weren't as familiar with Carey's speaking voice as we are, those of us who remember his performances so vividly in "The Killing" and "Paths of Glory".
