looking for one episode, is entire series on video?

In the summer of 1960, I saw about the last half of a Wyatt Earp show. In it, Earp meets a gang of men who I suppose are criminals. He tells it's leader that he will fight him with fists. A ring is set up in the main street of town. Earp at first takes a beating in the fight. But, since justice must triumph, he gets the bad guy against the ropes and defeats him.

Does anyone know which episode of the series this one is? It has always been assumed by me that because the show was shown in the summer of 1960 it must have been a rerun from the 1959-60 season. My interest has been heightened in this particular episode because recently I learned that Wyatt Earp was, for awhile, a prizefighter.

Is the entire series on videos?

Are you sure this episode was "Wyatt Earp?" Recently I saw an episode of "Bat Masterson" starring Gene Barry called "The Fighter" and the plot was very similar to the one you describe.

Not sure if the entire series is on video or not.

I definitely remember Hugh O'Brian in the episode. Wyatt Earp challenges the gang leader to a boxing match. The ring with the fight, Earp against the ropes and taking a beating and doing the same to the bad guy are also clearly recalled by me. I know I saw it in the summer of 1960 on a weekend afternoon. So, it must have been a rerun. Which year it was from, I can't say for sure.
I only think it most likely was from the season that had just ended.

I'm not surprised that Bat Masterson had an episode like this one. The writers of Western television shows probably would get tired of shoot-'em-ups and the heroes would resort to bare-fisted boxing matches. They didn't always win. There was a western that lasted only one season, 1958-1959, called Jefferson Drum. In it, the star, Jeff Richards, has a fight with a troublemaker who has ridden into town. It's a bareknuckled boxing match in a saloon. After taking a pounding, the good guy starts winning. But the villain throws something into his eyes, and beats him. In the end, the troublemaker is driven out of town by the hero.

The title of the episode is Pete Henke, the name of the bad guy. Years later, I learned from IMDb that he was played by Strother Martin. He was
a supporting actor who was most famous for the line "What we have here is a failure to communicate" in the Paul Newman film, Cool Hand Luke. That was in 1967, after he had gained a lot of weight.

As for the Jefferson Drum episode that I just described, I would like very much to see it again. Concerning Wyatt Earp, I would also like to see that show with Earp in the fistfight in the ring. But if anyone has the entire series, or that season, probably only one show isn't for sale.

I am not sure which episode this is but it is not in either of the two officially released DVD sets. I have recently finished watching both sets...one is a first season set and another a "Best of" set that contains 26 episodes throughout the series' run. Supposedly more season sets will be forthcoming so it may come out...eventually.

Well Season 1 of Wyatt Earp is now available on DVD & Season 2 will be out shortly.

There are several episodes which contain lengthy fist fights.

The only one in which a ring is involved is entitled 'The Manly Art' in which Earp takes on a prizefighter played by Morgan Woodward who was later to become a regular in the series as Shotgun Gibbs.

Another episode 'Wyatts Love Affair'Earp has a lengthy brawl with a tough cowhand in order to establish his authority in Dodge.
