Svengoolie showed Captive Wild Woman Saturday night, with a virtually unrecognizable Milburn Stone playing a lion tamer! He was supposedly chosen for the part because he resembled Clyde Beatty, so that stock footage could be used.
I recorded this show just because of the preview and had no idea that Milburn Stone was in it. I also recorded it so that I could fast forward through all of Svengoolie's nonsense and commercials. This film is only 61 minutes long uncut, but Svengoolie's "show" lasts two hours.
Anyway, I did catch Milburn Stone's name in the opening credits, but not the character name, and did not recognize him for the first 45 minutes. I thought that maybe he plays the doc, as he is introduced after the opening, but that is another actor. His voice is recognizable when he is trying to emphasize something, and he was a little more recognizable when they had closer shots, which seemed to happen later in the film.
Stone was in another movie shown on "Svengoolie": "The Mad Ghoul". In that one, Stone plays a police detective investigating serial killings where the victims have their hearts removed.
