I just watched this episode and it was about as good aas "The Wiving"! Which is, of course, to say that it was terrible. I'm a big fan of Gunsmoke and I know that there are stinkers in every show but this program was beyond awful.
I know the reviews are the place for this. I'm sorry for delivering it in this way. Unfortunately, I doubt I have enough words to qualify.
Bad Lady from Brookline is notable for one reason, and I believe this was the only instance of this sort of thing in the series' 20 year run.
Betty Hutton is in Miss Kitty's room and they're talking about Matt Dillon. During the scene Amanda Blake was sitting, and when she leaned forward her top slipped a bit too low and she suffered a "wardrobe malfunction". The producers (or censors, or whatever) left the scene in the episode but decided to blot out the "reveal", and a large black spot was inserted for a few moments across Ms. Blake's upper body to preserve her modesty.
Interesting that the scene was not reshot. It must have escaped anyone noticing until the episode was being edited, and was not replaced for whatever reason...budgeting, or perhaps Ms. Hutton was not available for a retake.
Yeah, I was thinking "I wonder how many of us are out looking for that one now", despite Eddysfitzboy warning us of how horrible it was. ;)
