Howdy from Downunder, I have just finished watching the Complete First Season of CHEYENNE.It was and still is my favourite TV Show Ever.Despite the fact, that I will turn 50 next month,I am still a kid at heart and I have the same passion now, then I did many moons ago. We have an Adult Classic TV Western and an actor who looked the part of a Hero-what else do you want? On a side note,my favourite CHEYENNE Gear, was when he wore his dark Cowboy Hat with the Arrowheads plus his white open neck buckskin shirt. To me ,it would be like wearing a Superman or Zorro Outfit(If I was still a kid-that is). To me - That would be "CHEYENNE".
I cannot imagine anyone else, but Clint Walker, starring as Cheyenne - he is, in every sense, Cheyenne! Clint Walker had the apearance and mannerisms of the perfect hero, and the show would not have been the same without Mr. Walker.
My husband and I were born several years after the series was canceled and he didn't have the chance to watch it on reruns(he has now become a fan of the show!). Fortunately for us, we are able to enjoy the series since it became available on DVD.
I can only hope that the other seasons will be released. It's a shame that there aren't more such shows from the golden years of television currently available on DVD because truly, there is alot of rubbish being broadcast on TV these days!
babybooboo, "If I was a Richman"(No I'm not Topol from- Fiddler From The Roof),I'd purchase all of the WB TV Shows from 55-65 as they were all great Nostalgic TV Shows which showcased future stars-Internationally. If you haven't seen Season 2 or 3 from CHEYENNE yet ,then you will be in "Western Heaven",when you do. I also recommend another TV Western Show called :_ Wanted Dead Or Alive(1958) starring Steve Mcqueen. It ran for 3 seasons. Season 1 is already out and Season 2 is comming out around late May or early June. This is a great show despite not comming from WB. To get daily updates on TV Shows going onto DVD,then the best site is:- www.tvshowsondvd.com
Thank you for the recommendations, g8856! I look forward to hopefully seeing the other seasons of 'Cheyenne' and hope to buy more of the WB shows from that era! Too bad more of these classic shows are not available on DVD - if they were, maybe they'd be enjoyed by a new generation who could learn to appreciate these gems of yesteryear.
I'll definitely look into 'Wanted Dead Or Alive' - I'm not familiar with this series, but I have seen Steve McQueen in other movies and liked his style, so I'm sure that it will be great! Thanks, again~
I will never understand why Clint Walker did not become a major motion picture star. Was there anyone who looked better than Clint. Besides his amazing physique, he jad a voice that could melt butter. Happy 80th birthday clint!

In answer to your question, dmll1375, I heard or read somewhere that if actors are successful on the big screen, they usually don't fare too well on TV and vice versa. I've been doing some casual research in this area and it appears to be essentially true. Try it and see what your results are.
Last weekend I saw "The Dirty Dozen" for the first time. I was happily surprised to see Clint Walker as one of the jailbirds. I was just a little boy when "Cheyenne" was first produced, but I watched most, if not all, of the original episodes when they came out. Clint always left a good impression on me.
Since you saw the original episodes of CHEYENNE(1955),I must admit I am totally surprised that you haven't seen The Dirty Dozen(1967)-before. It is a cult war classic. The question that has to be asked, have you been a jailbird yourself for the past 40 years? Just joking!
No, it's a legitimate question. I think I am the only person in my group that had never seen it. Everyone else I know saw "Dirty Dozen" in the theater when it came out. Maybe I was in jail.
I met Mr. Walker back in 1998 and he was as pleasant, friendly and gracious a gentleman as I have ever known. He was willing to talk with fans, answer questions and generally be available far more than most actors. It was a distinct pleasure to meet Cheyenne, Yellowstone Kelly and Big Jim Cole (Night of the Grizzly) all at once.
He should have been a bigger star like Clint Eastwood.Maybe if Clint was given the role in a fistfull of dollars in 1964 things may have been different.
