Marathon is on ENCORE as I write. The familiar Cheyenne opening and ending credits didn't appear until the 2nd season, episode 14.
Samantha Crawford (Diane Brewster) the nemesis of Bret Maverick appeared on Cheyenne first--trying to hoodwink Bodie on a cattle drive.
This marathon has been somewhat of a treat for me. I have never seen any of the Cheyenne episodes as it was a little before my time and have never seen or even known of it being played in syndication. I agree with a review about the show, the writing seems to be good and the supporting cast is excellent.
I have seen all of the Rifleman and The Big Valley time and time again. So this is a nice change of pace for my TV Western fix !
Just watched a good portion of the Cheyenne marathon....hadn't seen this in many years.I enjoyed every episode,a real treat.I'd forgotten how big Clint was.He must have the broadest shoulders I've ever seen.He looked like an ice cream cone.The most unrealistic thing about the show was that anyone would take a swing at the guy,or get up after being punched by him.That fringed shirt really emphasized his physique.It made me wonder if years later,William Smith was influenced by Walker,as he wore a very similar type shirt in "Laredo".
shareI noticed Cheyenne didn't regularly wear the familiar leather fringed shirt until the second season. Any time he is in other clothing often means the director is trying to match Cheyenne to footage from earlier Warner's Westerns.
