If you were to choose, what episodes would be on
three episodes to appear on a DVD compilation disk of Cheyenne episodes, which three would you select?
I ordered and received the WB compilation disk containing these three episodes:
"Storm Riders"
"The Trap"
"The Young Fugitives"
While these are nice episodes (OK The Trap is a favorite of mine. Because of Rhodes Reason, right?)
But, if you were introduce the western Cheyenne and the character Cheyenne Bodie to a newbie to the show, what episodes would you choose.
For me "The Young Fugitives" was a real yawner, well until Trevor Bardette (Old Man Clanton in the Hugh O'Brian Wyatt Earp)said something about Cheyenne interfering for the "last time"...
Anyway, I would still keep "The Trap".
And I would put perhaps the following on the disk.
"Vengeance is Mine". Leo Gordon makes for such a strong counterpart to Cheyenne that it was a pure pleasure to watch them both up on the screen. And that was one heck of a fight.
Or
"Home of is the Brave". The script has a very strong writing pedigree. But...I lost a nephew in Iraq... there is a bias to my thinking.
Or
"The Argonauts". Geez Rod Taylor (the Time Machine). And the episode is a very interesting send up to "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre".
Or
"Fury at Rio Hondo" Peggy Castle, one underrated actress, made the episode. And Cheyenne and Mississippi (played by Peggy) had very good onscreen chemistry. Of course this is another retelling of "To Have and Have Not".
I guess if you are going to borrow, borrow the best.
