Star in the Dust (S1, Ep13) & The Star Trail (Laramie S1, Ep5)

OK, here we have episodes of Cheyenne and Laramie that are virtually identical with the exception of a few details.

Even the names are similar.

Cheyenne (Jess) is about to shoot it out with the son of the rich man in town and his henchman (men), and the sheriff steps in and kills the bad guys. Cheyenne (Jess) realizes the job of a lawman isn't easy, and the sheriff makes Cheyenne (Jess) deputy. When the bank is robbed the sheriff decides to keep the money to please his gold-digging girlfriend, who was also fooling around with the rich man's son the sheriff killed earlier in the show.

Both episodes were written by Douglas Heyes.

The Cheyenne episode was produced in 1956. The Laramie episode in 1959.
