Sugarfoot and the makeup department

I just saw "Duel at Judas Basin", with Bronco and Sugarfoot guest starring...the first time I've seen Sugarfoot or Bronco onscreen.

I immediately noticed very heavy eye liner on his bottom eyelids on Sugarfoot. I suppose they were trying to make him look...what? Mild-mannered? Effeminate?

Funny...

I just saw Pony Express with Charlton Heston and Rhonda Fleming. Ms. Fleming's milksop brother was played by Michael Moore.

He had the *exact* heavy eye liner on the lower lids, and no one else had it (of the males, that is). I guess it was used regularly to show a guy wasn't as tough or rugged.
