'It's simple, we kill the Batman.' (Spoilers)

The episode Blind Spot featured a group of masked, Klansman-like vigilantes who spoke of upholding Southern values, but were in truth driven by hatred and resentment. Their leader was played by Adam West, an actor best known for his campy portrayal of Batman in the 1966 television series.

I know this was a decade earlier, and completely unrelated, but I must say that I for one found it very surrealistic to watch Cheyenne gun down a masked Adam West.

Gunning down a masked Adam West would have been surreal. But I don't think that's the way the episode went down. West survived that scene and was killed later.

reply

He was shot to death in the end, albeit his mask had been removed by that point.

Cheyenne gunned down Chief O'Hara in "The Law Man" episode.

He was tough on Gotham City crime fighters. Holy extermination, Batman!

Adam West was in a lot of '50s westerns and often played a heavy, like in Maverick (the Pappy episode was hilarious) and Bonanza. Every time I can't help thinking, "It's Bruce Wayne from stately Wayne manor!"

reply

I've seen Adam West in Geronimo (1962) and an episode of The Rifleman, but he played one of the good guys in both of those. That was the first time I saw him play a villain or western "heavy."

reply

He was a villain in a couple of episodes of "Maverick", too.

And come to think of it, in "Open Range" Robert Duvall Gunned down Albert Dumbledore.....

De Forrest Kelly was a contract player at Warners and was in a awful lot of their western series.

I'm surprised that Russell Johnson from Gilligan's Island never turned up on Cheyenne, he sure was in a lot of shows.
