For some reason, I was thinking about a trash-eating puppet called "Mumwat" or "Momwatt." I remember this as a kid; I was born in 1970 so this must have been on TV from 1974 to 1980 or so. I grew up in the Philadelphia area. I really thought this was on Captain Kangaroo, but I am good at finding things on the web and I can't find anything. It's like I've been shifted to an alternate reality where there was no Mumwat.

shareYou are thinking of Captain Noah! He was on in the '70's in the Philly area and had a trash eating puppet. They would do arts and crafts together on Captain Noah's Magical Ark. The man that played the captain was a Lutheran Minister and did the show w/his wife. They taped at WPVI studios on City Line Ave. I can't believe you remembered that!!!
