'Animated Classics' segments

After asking around in vain for many years, I was told by an old friend that "Animated Classics," the exquisitely animated fairy tales (e.g., "The Snow Queen" and "Beauty and the Beast") that I remember watching on TV c.1960 were not a discrete program but merely occasional segments on "Captain Kangaroo." I have inquired everywhere I can think of--The Museum of TV and Radio in New York City was the first of countless dead ends--to no avail. It's really sad to know that a couple of generations of children have had to settle for the heavily outlined, unsubtle drawing style and alternately smirky and insipid storytelling style of the Disney/Hanna-Barbera/anime complex.

Is there perhaps anyone on this message board who can confirm the Capt. K connection and maybe even suggest someone/a site to contact to see about acquiring copies of "Animated Classics"?
