I remember a film they would show about some painter...

as I remember, 2-3 times a year, the Capt. would announce that they were going to run this film about a painter? I believe this would be in the late 60s or early 70s when I was watching it. I cant remember the painter's name or what was the name of this short film but they would run about 10min a day for each day, I think for 5 days (Mon through Fri) . I think this painter would go around and paint stuff, all I remember is I would get so excited when they would run this thing.
Can anyone add to this or better yet point me to a place where I can watch this again.

The only painter I remember is Mr. Bainter the Painter and he was played by Hugh Brannum who played Mr. Greenjeans. Sound familiar at all?

Hi,

I believe that you're referring to "The Missing Paint Mystery", which aired annually from 1969-1977.

I'm looking for a number of cartoons I saw over and over on weekday mornings. As I watched "Captain Kangaroo" during this time, some of them could have been on it. Anyhow, one concerned the painter Raoul Dufy. It explained how the family came from Scotland and was named MacDuff, then when they moved to France it was changed to Dufy. Raoul was blond and when he tried to grow a mustache, no one could see it. So he became fascinated with painting subjects which go unseen or unnoticed.

A search has revealed this to be "The Invisible Moustache of Raoul Dufy" (1955), written by Sidney Peterson, directed by Aurelius Battaglia, nominated for a BAFTA award. It was a short subject but the IMdB does not say how short. Even if it was 50 minutes it could have been divided into 10-minute segments over five days.

If "Captain Kangaroo" was the source of this cartoon I may have nailed the source for the others and would be interested in obtaining DVDs if they exist.
