Truly "comfort TV" for me.............When did YOU first see AHP ?

I first started watching this show in syndication , early 1970s on WNEW TV channel 5 in the New York state area.
It was on weeknights at 11:00 PM. As a kid- I was a "night owl" and still am. I was also lucky enough to have parents that let a 4th grader stay up that late.
The one episode that stayed with me all those years was Waxworks! I loved it then and still get a chill from it now .
Anyway- the DVDs are a lifesaver when sick at home in bed!
So- other posters on the board:
When did you first start watching AHP and how old were you? Anyone remember the first run on CBS ?

Great way to put it.....comfort TV. This show and The Twilight Zone are definitely my comfort shows. They remind me of childhood. I'm 40 and grew up watching in syndication in the 80's.

I gotta admit the first time I watched AHP, I didn't like it. I believe the one I'd watched was the very first one "Revenge". It wasn't until a few years ago I was bored and flipped through the channels to see if I could find something on. I saw AHP and decided to give it a try and I really enjoyed it. Again, that was a few years ago so I had to have been in my mid to late 20s. As for "Revenge", I like it now.

The shows, particularly the 30 min. episodes, are intriguing.
Similar to the Twilight Zone (though not "competitors"), the writing on both shows was top-notch.

I first started watching the series in the early 1990s on cable. I would've been approaching 30 at the time...

It was a rainy day and I was browsing Netflix. Decided to give it a shot when a lot of the episode descriptions sounded interesting, and the rest is history.

I'm younger than most here but I started watching AHP when it used to air on Retro Television Network digital sub-channel. It aired at 12AM so I stayed up quite a bit past my bedtime at the time to watch it. I loved this show and have now watched nearly every episode. Great suspense from the master of suspense!
