Brando was good; the other bikers acted like the Three Stooges

and that's not a put-down of the three stooges.

but i thought the other bikers other than brando - even lee marvin - acted like they were in a cartoon.

a horrible movie.

I too found this legendary status film surprisingly hokey viewing it for the first time just yesterday at age 65. The "suits" came off more humane, accomodating and compassionate than the lead sullen character. The actions of the bad boy bikers seem cartoonish and jokey in today's context. Brando may have just been playing himself- from most accounts he was as unhappy and estranged from the straight life as his character was in this early film. In the closing scenes he gives a pilferred trophy to a female he had lost interest in courting.

Marvin and the others were about as realistic and threatening as the Von Zipper biker gang in the "Beach Blanket" movies of the '60s.

I agree, I was thinking why they acted like bratty 5 year olds but the 3 stooges is a perfect description of how they acted.

that's why MB is considered the man who changed acting forever. He was ahead of his time.
