How old is Johhny (Marlon Brando) supposed to be in this movie? I thought he was supposed to be 19 or 20 but then I realized Brando played Stanley in "A Streetcar Named Desire" two years prior who I think is supposed to be in his 30s. So how old is his charcter supposed to be and how old is Kathie supposed to be I thought she was 15 or 16? Can someone please let me know?
shareBrando's character Johnny Strabler would've been 20-23.Given that his gang isn't made up of teenagers who've just hit the road you wouldn't become the leader at 18 or 19.Kathie's age is a bit harder to gauge but I'd say in the 19-21 range.When this film was made in March 1953 Brando was just about to turn 29 and Mary Murphy had just turned 22.

Good post McQualude. I recall the bikers (Market Street Commandos in San Francisco) at that time were WW II vets and in their late 20s and early thirties. So, Brando was playing his actual age.
