That was as caustic as the laguage got in this ground breaking film.I guess it was the motorcycles and leather jackets with skull and cross bones that made people nervous.

To be fair, I'm sure that the writers would have loved to have interjected some profanity into the dialog, but in 1953, they were lucky to get away with the inferences that they did.

I'm sure you're right. It's just that what we as an audience do hear, is more likely to prompt humorous guffaws, rather than the intended unease, in 2015.🐭

...sort of like all those gangster movies of the '30s and '40s; homicidal psychopaths that don't hesitate to kill someone, but never say "hell" or "damn".
