Sister act....

I just love watching Danny Kaye and Bing Crosby doing the sister act. You can tell that they were getting such a kick out of it! Bing was laughing at the end. I just love this entire film but this is one of my many favorite moments. They just looked like they were having a fun time being silly.
Agree???????????

Anyone have another favorite moment???

Have yourselves a White Cristmas!
We usually have the snow here in central Wisconsin but so far all we have is rain..... I'm not complaining. It can rain all winter! It does seem strange though for this time of the year. With a week to go I am wondering if we will have a white Christmas.....

Anyway.... back to that sister act......

Face it girls.... I'm older and I have more insurance!

I just read in the "Trivia" section that this was placed in the film after Crosby/Kaye were caught joking around on the set performing that song. I thought it was hilarious and YES! they seem to be having a lot of fun doing it.

I'm a little down after reading Vera Ellen's bio... she had such a sad, tragic life! I loved the performance of every member of this cast and am saddened at how her life turned out.

Empress Tina's bit of stuff.

Yes. Vera Ellen's life was a sad one. She also lived at a time when anorexia didn't even have a name!
When I was a kid in the early 60's and I would see this each year at Christmas time I use to think she was such a tiny pixie... so cute.

I try not to dwell on the pain and personal woes that these wonderful performers have gone through though. Each of them had thier own demons.... but don't we all? Some of us just deal a bit better or we have fewer pressures in life. Who knows? In any case.....
Have a great Christmas! Count every blessing!

I do not know anything about Vera Ellen except to marvel at her fantastic dancing every time I see this film! Wow, she was just incredible. She also must have been VERY brave to trust in the others dancers to catch her as she hurled herself down those stairs in the Mandy finale, yipes! And she made it look so effortless...

Actually, V-E's life was even sadder than the way it was presented in the David Soren biography. He left out virtually all of the details of her marriage to Victor Rothschild. With Rothchild's passing about 2 years ago, perhaps a future edition will finally offer some truth telling on this unhappy tale. I personally believe the years she had to endure with Rothchild did more to make her ill and a recluse than all the endless talk about her eating disorders.

My favorite is also the dancing on the "dock" sequence. The song is so good and I just love how Danny Kaye & Vera Ellen look like they're having so much fun dancing together. Knowing Vera had such a dark personal life I hope that joy on her face is for real there. She males me want to dance when she's got those big grins for her partners. She looks like she's having alot of fun in the "Abraham" number too.

Danny & Bing doing Sisters is probably my 2nd favorite bit! Especially when Danny keeps smacking Bing with his fan :)

Thank you jenndear!
We should just enjoy her and the great talent that went into all of those wonderful moments in this beloved holiday treat!
I think she was great. She really did look as though she was having a great time! Dancing had to be a joy for her. She was fantastic and she made it look so easy!

"It was ever so lovely......"

Rosemary Clooney said in the commentary that they actually did fluff some part of that number and they cracked up, and it was printed that way because it was so funny.
