Just saw the stage show version. It's great!

My wife and I saw the stage version of White Christmas, which was based on the movie, yesterday at Syracuse Stage. It was great to see this story performed live. While the main characters were professionals, the ensemble, dancers, extras etc. were all Syracuse University theater majors, and they sang and danced their hearts out. It was a lot of fun.

The play was pretty faithful to the movie although there were a few changes. The opening scene from 1944 was shortened, the TV variety show was actually called the Ed Sullivan show, etc. but none of this really effected the story. Ironically, the actor who played the Bing Crosby part was a dead ringer for Danny Kaye!

Anyway, if this show ever comes to a theater near you check it out.

I've always enjoyed the stage adaptation of this film. The General's first name was changed for some reason, and Emma's name was completely changed to Martha Watson. Same character, though.

I also like that in the stage version, the General's granddaughter is a little girl as opposed to a teenager. Really pulls at the heartstrings.

I saw it a couple of years ago, with Aled Jones playing Bing Crosby's role, which was a treat in itself. At the end, during the finale, snow drifted down over the audience and the four leads encouraged us all to sing along with them to "White Christmas." It was magical.

I saw the stage production of "White Christmas" on Broadway for the 2009 revival. I loved it so much, when the show was produced again on Broadway the following year, I saw it again. I was hoping this show would be an annual tradition on Broadway but unfortunately, it was only the two seasons I saw. This production also had the "snow" falling on the audience and everyone joined in singing "White Christmas" with the cast. Certainly was a wonderful way to celebrate the holidays.

That sounds so lovely. I am going to try and see it if it comes my way one of these days. Really like your Fred Astaire picture. He is one of my favorite dancers.😄

I took my Mom & Grandson last year to see White Christmas. It was done by our local Theatre Group. He loved it, especially where the two dance & sing like the ladies.

It would be nice to get this performed more often around Christmastime in various theaters, instead of the tiresome old Nutcracker year after year after year.

Great, now we gotta do the rest of this thing with Danny Elfman!
