I'm glad this movie exists, but...
...it is not that good. It has some great things about it (great selection of Irving Berlin tunes, the great Ethel Merman in one of her rare screen performances, great productions values), but I find it hard to sit through the whole movie. The plot is melodrama (popular during the fifties), but I find it difficult to care much what is happening. Some nice musical numbers, and, as I said before, MERMAN!
