sSylvetser Stallone RIPPED from this

In Rocky . Especially the love romantic parts . Fair play to him though ,he has god taste and Rocky turned out good.

You should check out Somebody Up There Likes Me, starring Paul Newman. It's quite evident he "stole" a lot from that film more so than On The Waterfront.

I believe it was Roger Ebert, a man whom I have great respect for as a film reviewer, who declared Sly the next Brando after he saw Rocky.

That’s a very interesting mixture of poetry and meanness.

A lot of Rocky was actually based on the true story of an amateur boxer who got to fight a charity bout with Mohammed Ali, and did a lot better than people were expecting.

Yeah, that fighter was Chuck Wepner and "Rocky" borrows a lot of his story. The romance in "Rocky" owes a great deal to the movie "Marty". I didn't recognize any particular influence of "On the Waterfront" in "Rocky".

Sly certainly did borrow a lot from Brando's performance here.

Its that man again!!

I was thinking that too. But then how many other movies feature a tough guy who stumbles when trying to be romantic?

They are both wonderful movies. One wishes that Stallone hadn't felt the need to continue Rocky's saga. I didn't need to now what happened to the character after the movie. When it comes to On The Waterfront I decided to read the book. It's excellent and very realistic and let's us know what would have happened to Terry. Spoiler warning: John Friendly orders Terry's execution and his body is found in a container, stabbed numerous times. I wish I hadn't read it but, luckily, I'm able to separate the film and the book, at least while I'm watching it.
