overrated performances??????

i have never seen (i finally watched the film yesterday, sorry), so much chemistry between to people in cinema, as it is between marlon and eva... she was overacting????? i really can't understand it... this movie is SO big in so many ways; one of those ways is the acting, this is too modern!, this is the epic of method acting.

this movie is MAGNIFICENT. i was overwhelmed, i want to watch it 10, 20, 30 more times. every scene is eternal

I'm not sure WHERE you read about "overrated" performances, but if it's from folks on here; dismiss! That's totally insane.

Performance-wise, this is the rule book being written right here, in this movie. Brando is an utter revelation, and that's an understatement. I'm a struggling actress here in LA, and it's on TCM right now, I've seen it 100x, and I'm STILL entralled by Brando's performance. You cannot FIND the acting in his acting. He was just the master. And Eva Marie Saint, held her own, to say the least.

The 2 of them in that bar scene; whoa. Honestly, whoever says anything about them being overrated knows nothing. And just may be over-saturated by "modern" movies.

Yeah, I've seen it about 100x also and I agree, you can't keep your eyes off of Brando. His acting is so subtle in this role. He wouldn't even need to say dialogue and you know what he's feeling.

These folks who talk about overacting on this board wouldn't know a great performance if it fell on them.

I watch this film whenever it is on.Anyone who has something negative to say about the acting,direction, Cinematography or even the score-Definitely- is grasping at straws. This is text book film making.
Is this film perfect? DEFINITELY

I don't see how anyone would dislike these performances. They may be too dramatic for some tastes, but still they are realistic within the context of the storyline.

Brando is fantastic, period. The rest of the cast? I think they all did wonderful jobs, however, I can probably understand why "some" would criticize their performances (they don't hold up compared to Brando's).
