Does anyone else think Karl Malden was fascinating?

Does anyone agree with me?

His scene at the docks was extremely powerful, yes. Also check out Patton (1970).

Think about what you learned today. One: Don't screw with me. Two: Invite me... to your crap!

I have seen Patton but it's been long time.

My next suggestion is The Hanging Tree :). Malden has a lot of good work to his name.

Thanks I have not seen that one. I will check that out. I saw Patton becuase it's one of my dad favorite movies.

Yes, absolutely! I think he was better here than he was even in Streetcar.

I agree! I would have given an Oscar to Malden for his performance in On The Waterfront and one to Brando for A Streetcar Named Desire instead of the other way round.

Malden's performance is interesting. He comes off like a cop than a priest (Does God look like a fat, balding, cigar-chomping, coffee-drinking Broderick Crawford with a two o' clock shadow?), which prophesized his role on the cop series "The Street Of San Francisco".

I agree, but would have liked a little more backstory for Fr. Barry.

I think his performance was very good (loved the speech in the ship's hold) but we never really find out what turns him into a crusading padre, after one conversation with Edie. His stance of course his completely opposite to that of the other parish priest who clearly wishes to minister to his flock without treading on any mob/union toes.

Karl Malden was a wonderful actor, unappreciated imo. I too think he was fascinating in this role.

I agree that Karl Malden was a great actor. He was incredible in this role, and I think he was much better in Waterfront than he was in Streetcar.

He won. Get over it.
