The remake?

Is this project still alive?

Nothing much seems to be happening about a remake.

And for the love of God, keep Mel Gibson well away from it.

Run for it?, Runnings not a plan! Runnings what you do, once a plan fails!

I've had a brief look on the 'net & I can't find any up-to-date news about it. You need to be on IMD Pro to access the info about it on here (which I'm not).

The lack of news is a bit worrying for those looking forward to seeing the remake.

Yes its still in production, peter jackson is producing it thats all i know.

I just hope he stands firm and does a proper remake and doesn't fold to the movie studios pressure to no doubt try and put an american in every role it possibly can get away with.

reply

He's a New Zealander so he would hold true to the events.

However there were at least 2 Americans in 617 Squadron

I saw the great Stephen Fry interviewed on UK chatshow Parkinson a month or two back - he talked about being personally invited by Peter Jackson to scriptwrite the movie only recently, but was unable to do so due to previous commitments on the tv show Bones.

I reckon this movie is still on - but who the hell is going to be Guy Gibson?
Think Orlando Bloom would be fantatstic.

reply

I dunno, would be fun to see the RAF bomb the *beep* out of pirates instead of Nazi's for a change.

"Easy there chief, I don't see 'hollow-point wound care' on the menu."

reply

"Peter Jackson's Dambusters movie will be filmed at the site where the original bombers launched their famous assault on Nazi Germany's industrial heartland.

The remake of the 1955 World War II classic, The Dam Busters, was announced last September.

Other than confirmation that British writer and comedian Stephen Fry would writer the film's script, little has been revealed about the multimillion-dollar venture in the past year"

I just heard Ian McKellen speak at a lecture and he said that he will be doing DAM BUSTERS!

Keep Hollywood away in general. Otherwise Guy GIBSON will turn out to be a yank flying a B17.

that should ruffle some feathers, but let's side to accuracy

Mel Gibson in the remake is perfect. Instead of the film's epithet for the dog's name, he probably would change it to k**e!!
