Not a goof...
At the beginning whilst Barnes Wallis is firing marbles in daylight he tells his daughter that he will have another couple of goes "while it's still dark". Presumably he meant while it's still light.
It's actually his sons that he's addressing and he says: 'Well, now let's just try and get one or two more shots before it's too dark.'
