we watched this at 3 in the morning with my youth group in a 350 year old church, and it was so funny. the leader told us to scream whever we saw the monster. then, when the creature was watching Kay in the water, we were all screaming at the screen, "Get out of the water!!!!" It was so much fun!

Agreed, this film like many in its era sparked the inspiration of so many filmmakers and movies today, this film is a milestone and a very important piece of film history.
