How Come?

Why is it that outside of The Monster Squad and some comedic refrences and cameos that they've never revisited the character of the Gillman/Creature? It seems like almost every classic horror film from the era has been remade and this guy was never given a proper revist/remake/update.

When theres no more room in Hollywood, remakes shall walk the Earth.

Well there were two sequels. The Revenge of the Creature (1955) and The Creature Walks Among Us (1956). So, the Gill Man had two follow-ups. I'm not sure if a remake of the original would be an improvement anyway.

You can say the same thing for the Bride.

Although it probably wouldn't be as good, I'd watch a remake just out of curiosity to see how they'd approach the material. Would the monster look the same or completely different? Would they use CGI or practical effects? Would the story itself be like the Piranha remake and only focus on good looking people in bathing suits, or would it be cold and overly scientific so you'd have to be a scientist yourself to enjoy it? I wish they would remake it just to see what it would be like.

The Gill Man was a cousin of The Munsters
