Universal Legacy Series

In 2006, Universal started rereleasing some of their monster films as part of the “Universal Legacy Series” (not to be confused with the “Legacy Collections” that were released two years earlier). “Dracula” and “Frankenstein” were released with a 75th Anniversary tag, then two years later “The Mummy” was rereleased with a Special Edition tag just in time for “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor” theatrical release. Then, in early 2010, “The Wolf Man” was reissued (also with a Special Edition tag) in time for the theatrical release of “The Wolfman”.

Since it seemed like Universal was just rereleasing the original films from the six series, I wondered if “The Invisible Man” and “Creature from the Black Lagoon” would get rereleases if and when their respective remakes were released (as I have heard that Universal is considering remaking both of them). However, with the growing popularity of Blu-Ray, this seems unlikely (I don’t know of Universal is still releasing titles under the “Universal Legacy Series”). It seems a shame that there (probably) won’t be a complete set of the six original monster classics in that line, but I’m guessing that’s what will happen.

I bought the The Creature From The Black Lagoon (alone) and The Six Collection today. Each of Six are sold separately too.I bought them in the big blue box store today. Finally, I have all 7 of the best of the Universal classic flicks.
