Incorrect Information in FAQ Section
In the FAQ Section the question is asked: "What Happened to Queeg?" with the following answer:
No court decision is shown, just the party where the ship's officers congratulate Maryk for winning. Also, at the end of the movie, Queeg has been replaced by De Vriess on the Caine, so the audience can assume that some disciplinary action has taken place, if only to transfer his command elsewhere.
The phrase in bold is incorrect. During the celebration scene after the conclusion of the court martial, Ensign Keith is speaking with May on the phone during which we says "I have a new ship and a new captain."
Later, the now Lieutenant Junior Grade Keith arrives at his new ship. As it departs from port, you can see the hull number is 786, not 18 which was the hull number of the Caine. So it cannot be the Caine and Commander DeVriess did not replace Queeg as Captain. He is commanding a different ship. share
