Bogie Good! Francis Bad!

I thought Bogie was so good in this movie! He definitely earned his Oscar nomination from his role. I don't know about anyone else on this board, but I felt bad for Queeg. That part when he talks about the crew being a family and if there was only some way they could help each other, that makes me tear up.

But Robert Francis? Ugh! I'm sorry, but he just was not a good actor!

Well of course Francis was not in the same league as Bogart. But I thought he did pretty well with his part, which was basically a supporting role. Keith comes across as awkward - even a bit annoying and callow at times. But, even though he comes from a privileged background, he seems to show some potentially admirable qualities too.

And, we'll never know what Francis would have done if he had a longer career.
