when the spirit says let's go back to my native land

when the spirit is telling the man "let's go back to my native land" what did that mean? what would that have meant for him since he was actually under an enchantment/bewitched ?

would he have been wandering around the countryside in a daze or something?

Since she was a ghost, I assumed that "native land" was a reference to death.

Yes. Either the man would had died and spent eternity on some sort of limbo with the woman or like you said he would have died and then taken to the underworld.
