I was watching this film on History Channel tonight.

It was ok, but it can't begin to compare to the excellence of "A Night to Remember".

There is something I was wondering about though.

In the first scene, you see the purser's office going about the business of delivering bon voyage gifts. As the bellboy carries Captain's gift up to the bridge, you can hear the band playing a tune. You hear it most clearly as the bellboy actually passes the band on the promenade deck.

Does anyone know the name of the song they were playing? I've heard it played before. I believe it's a British patriotic tune. Can anyone identify it?

The first tune is "The British Grenadiers" which almost certainly wasn't played on a ship about to sail. It's a regimental march and often is played at military ceremonies. "Rule Britannia" faintly follows,. That would have been played, probably.

there are two songs that i recall hearing in the movie:
one that plays consistantly all through both first and second acts of the movie
and the other near the end of it
i believe one of those songs is danny boy [you know a classical version],
and the other one nearer my god to thee
but i don't know if their even mentioned on any cd i have been searching for on amazon

does this film have a soundtrack cd? or any one know of where i can find the music to this film? like maybe soundamerica

i think it's during various scenes of the film,
i think one of them is when the passengers
hear the band , near the ending of the film
