Stanwyck and Wagner affair

It was on the set of "Titanic" that Barbara Stanwyck and Robert Wagner first met and began a quiet affair that lasted for about 3 years. Despite the 20 year difference in their ages they were very much in love and kept things quiet, as publicity about it would have been damaging to both of them. Wagner writes about it in his recent biography.

RJ is what people who think they are "in the know" call Robert Wagner

When you buy a dog you buy a small tragedy.

And where would you know that from. Surely not from Mr. Wagner. Also, Clifton Webb lived with his mother. I doubt that Robert Wagner lived with Webb and his mother.

That is really interesting! Did Ms. Stanwyk know about this? (I mean, after all, surely she might have had some second thoughts don't you think?) And how about Mr. Webb's mother? (to whom, it is reported, he was very devoted!)Was she aware that "RJ" was living with Webb since they would have been in the same household, or did Webb maintain a separate "pad" for his boyfriend RJ? That must have been a quaint situation especially for two years! He (Webb) must have had a interesting time balancing his time between mom and RJ. Gee whiz, I guess anything is possible in Hollywood! I guess that is why Webb was not cast in the film, The Wild Bunch.

I can't imagine a more stunning actress to have an affair with. She was a great star (and actor) with a unique beauty never duplicated. Regardless of his motivation, I'm sure Wagner has pleasant memories of Ms. Stanwyck.
