i have just finished watching this movie and loved it...
this is my first movie with audrey hepburn in it and ohhhh myy goddd!!! i just fell in love with her within first 15 mins...
she is innocent, sweet, elegant, classy and sexy( not for many but yes she is for me)all at the same time...
and also that rare combination of talent and beauty...she acts well too.. in fact too good for her beauty..
we talk about films getting DATED but i think its the same thing about acting too. i have watched a lot of classics lately and it is obvious that some of the acting(especially from the female actors) is DATED. but i think when i watch audrey in this movie her acting is very much like the "modern" style...well deserved oscar
so can any1 here suggest some movies in which she is as wonderful as this one.. thank you..
"Dr. Jules Hilbert: Let's start with ridiculous and work backwards."
Nice, glad you enjoyed it. And yes it is a lot of that and more. As for acting if your referring to they dont act like they used to then it has aged. But I wouldnt call it dated. Acting was a lot better back then IMO, thats just me.
Now for other Hepburn movies....
There are some good ones. Charade, Breakfast At Tiffanys, Sabrina, Wait Until Dark and the Nun's Story I'd watch first if you want to see some great movies and movies that Audrey shines in. Charade is more of a great movie because of the movie, but there is excellent chemistry.
As well as the above, Funny Face and My Fair Lady are musicals just to warn if you dont like musicals. They are worth a try even if your not a fan of musicals.
Others such as Two for the Road, How To Steal A Million, War & Peace, Love In the afternoon
The Unforgiven and Paris when it Sizzles are so so
Anyway Id watch all the above mentioned. Probably the ones in the first 3 paragraphs first
All pretty good/great/excellent movies except Paris when it SIzzles which is meh
I agree that "Paris when it sizzles" is pretty bad. I haven't watched all films you mention yet, my most recent discovery is "How to steal a million". I love it! (watched it 3 times in as many weeks!) It lacks the dramatic touch of "Sabrina" and "Roman Holiday", but it has good dialogue, and Peter O'Toole and Audrey are great together, both in and outside of a closet. I didn't even mind that it's in color :-)
"It lacks the dramatic touch of "Sabrina" and "Roman Holiday", but it has good dialogue"
Yeah How to Steal A Million is definately different to Sabrina and Roman Holiday in that way but it's own unique way also haha. I liked Peter O Toole after seeing him in movies like this and Lawrence Of Arabia.
I vote for Wait Until Dark and Two for the Road. I fell in love with her in Wait Until Dark, there were no videos back them much less DVDs, and she didn't make another movie for eight years! It was a long wait.
