Skirt colour?!

What colour was Audrey's skirt? In the pictures that have been coloured afterwards on imdb it's red, blue, gold... what was its real colour?

I haven't come across any production/ behind-the-scenes photos that are in color (other than promotional posters etc that have the skirt colored red, blue or yellow) so it's anyone's guess what the actual color was of the skirt.

reply

I think green skirt, yellow top.

Or, from that same website you linked to: http://www.allposters.com/-sp/Roman-Holiday-1953-Posters_i6251298_.htm ...how about yellow top, gold skirt: http://www.allposters.com/-sp/Roman-Holiday-1953-Posters_i6250757_.htm

She wore the same clothing on her "Roman Holiday" day (except for Joe's clothes to sleep in) so it still seems unclear what the actual clothing color was for her shirt & skirt.

Yes it is, she wore a long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up, except for the earliest scenes when she first met Joe Bradley on the street while drugged she had the sleeves down. Just google Roman Holiday and select images and you'll see. The DVD extras has numerous production and publicity photos as well.

I have yet to come across any color photos of her in the outfit she wore for most of the film- only color publicity poster images and they vary in color of the shirt and belted skirt. I could see the actual color of the shirt being white or yellow and the skirt in a light to medium brown/chamois/tan.

this looks like an original photo. I don't think the colours have been changed - http://www.fanpop.com/clubs/roman-holiday/images/29977412/title/audrey-color-photo

Good find- the clothing colors seem like they could be accurate- I mean the sky is blue and the stone looks the color of stone...

For some reason I ignored that link and didn't click on it when I first replied here. That looks exactly as I imagined it, pretty much. Good to know I don't have to adjust my mental picture of what her dress looks like in one of my favorite movies.

HO, HO, HO, MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE 

reply

I've always imagined it being cream colored.

I always imagined the blouse to be white or cream and the skirt to be beige/camel coloured. She's supposed to be rather conservative and modest, her clothes wouldn't be fantastically coloured unless it was an event she was going to. The clothes she would pick To sneak out I imagine would be plain as possible to avoid being noticed.

reply

i agree, i imagined the exact same thing. i doubt she would have been allowed brightly coloured clothes even
