Do you think they made love?

Just watched this lady night... it was so lovely.

Suddenly cutting to a scene of people "freshening up" in a bedroom was generally the code for that in old movies. But on the flipside their other interactions seemed so innocent that I could believe that they didn't.

Yeah, when she's standing there in his robe in the bathroom and looking at herself in the mirror, her facial expressions and body language give the impression that she may have done more than just kiss him...but as you said it can go either way.

Mag, Darling, you're being a bore.

reply

Absolutely not.

(I know that's hard to fathom in 2016.)

reply

yeah, as if she suddenly went from being almost ashamed of sleeping in the same room with a man, to jumping into the sack right after she meets him

no way

reply

No. They didn't. He wouldn't have done that to her and she was too innocent to have agreed had he approached her that way.

Additionally they made a point of impressing on us (the scene with the robe) that nothing happened.

Try not to project late 20th/early 21st century values on a mid century film.
