Irving VS Joe
Am I the only one who thinks that Eddie Albert is hotter than Gregory Peck? Albert is so natural--and that beard!--while Peck seems so Ken-Doll-Martell-cookie-cut and has to be all slick and suave at every moment of the film.

shareWell I always thought of Peck as elegant, handsome and that he has a sort of American ruggedness to him. I never thought of him as a Ken Doll (but what a magnificant doll he'd make!). I always thought of Peter O'toole as a Ken doll and maybe even Cary Grant to an extent, but never Peck. And being slick and suave was part of his character. But I don't think that Albert if hotter than Peck, he just seems as you said like the guy next door.
shareNope. I love Gregory Peck. Always have thought Irving was nothing compared to Joe.
I need to return some videotapes
Ooh no, I think you're wrong. Eddie is excellent here. It's understandable that Gregory and Audrey get the most attention, but to me RH really is a Hepburn-Peck-Albert film. The impulsive Radovich balances perfectly against Ann and Joe trying to express their feelings.
RH wouldn't be the same without Eddie.

I never make mistakes. Once I thought I did, but I was wrong.
Oh, I'm not disregarding his place as a character, Roman Holiday wouldnt be the same without Irving. I was just saying that personally I do prefer Joe.

Eddie Albert was great in everything he did. He was even a war hero in WWII. (Google it.) I love it when he says, "25% of five grand! That's 1500 bucks!" And Peck grimly replies, "1250."
shareEddie is cute but Gregory Peck is handsome. He is my ideal man - strong and dignified. Eddie was a bit of a player...

Funny you should mention that; the first time I saw it I imagined myself as Princess Ann and taking off with Irving instead of Joe. I'm not wild about the beard but I really liked the character.
shareI much preferred Irving/Eddie Albert.
Ever tried, ever failed?
No matter.
Try again, fail again.
Fail better.
