Peace with honor?

Obviously, this is a famous phrase, most often associated with Richard Nixon's failed attempt to get U.S. troops out of Vietnam in 1973 (trying to get a cease-fire 4 days after the plan was implemented). However, I've heard the term used since, but am not sure of the chronology before this incident.

They definitely use the phrase "peace with honor" in Robot Monster.
Coincidence?
Cooptation from an earlier source?
Inspiration for Nixon's speech?
I'm interested.

It's from Neville Chamberlain's infamous "peace for our time" speech. The quote is "My good friends, for the second time in our history, a British Prime Minister has returned from Germany bringing peace with honour. I believe it is peace for our time."

Ro-Man is Nixon's uncle.

I could just see Nixon watching this movie over and over in the White House. It would answer alot.

"We want peace, but it must be peace with honor." Right, Alice - the Ro-mans just knocked off the earth's population with the exception of 8 people - I don't think you're in a position to be dictating terms.

I loved the wedding - somehow, our blushing bride could come up with a veil, but the groom couldn't find a shirt?

it was as bad as "humasn greatest honor is conquering nature" or kits going to sleep at day while being obviously at least 10 years old. but wait maybe they had to go to sleep since the kid was obviously retarded.

Every time the Mother/Martha character appears on the screen, I always get this uncontrollable urge to yell "Nellive Chamberlain"at the screen.
