Has anyone seen the restored version?
There's a new DVD (well, my brother gave it to me for Christmas)and it has several bonus features, including commentary by David Newman and one film historian whose name escapes me for the moment. It's also introduced by Martin Scorsese. There's also a very interesting half hour "The Making of The Robe" -- which discusses the project from Day One. Very interesting material and a must for fans of the film.
I must say that, in my view, the film looks absolutely beautiful - pristine, vivid, and there's been some embellishment of that superb soundtrack. As ever, warts and all, this movie never fails to impress me and it will remain with me for the rest of the week - though I have yet to hear the commentary track and suspect I will have a listen before the end of the week.
Just a head's up to fans of the film - this DVD is well worth purchasing -- lots of really great stuff and the movie never looked better.
Enjoy!
