Remake
If this movie was remade, who could you see in what parts?
shareI hope it is never remade. I can't imagine anyone doing it better, and there are no actors alive today that I could see stepping into these roles, and I would hate to see computer generated special effects.
shareI agree that the original would be near impossible to top, but if there was one that could do it today I would think Mel Gibson could not only produce and direct it superbly, but also do a magnificent job playing Marcellus.

Oh, I don't think so. Much to old to play Marcellus. What is he now, about 55? Burton was half his age when he played the role.
shareDoes he have to be young? I really don't know, nor do I think that would matter. The remake would be different no matter what, right? Anyway, Mel is the only one that could make a remake a reality these days I would think. But honestly, I don't think it is really necessary. The original is more that adequate.
Plus, there is always a certain charm to the older films that a remake would never capture.

"Young" is a relative term. Let's put it this way, if Marcellus in a remake is to have relatively the same strengths and weaknesses as the original Marcellus, I would suggest that 55-60 years of age is too old by half.
shareI don't think The Robe should be remade, though I think it's a shame Hollywood no longer makes Bible epics for general audiences. It's a great, lost genre.
shareIt was a great lost genre, but it's been done to death. There just isn't much more to say.
"..sure you won't change your mind? Why, is there something wrong with the one I have?"
I think there's plenty more to say. Cultures have always reinterpreted iconic texts over and over. (How many Jane Eyres can you count?) A lot could be done with modern retellings of Old Testament favourites. I'd love to see a well done, super sexy Song of Solomon, for example.
